Insurance Auto Auctions to Help Raise $125,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to Battle Childhood Cancer
IAA to Sell Lemonade at 142 U.S. Branch Locations in August to Support Kids’ Cancer Research

Westchester, Ill.  — Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. (IAA), the leading live and live online salvage auto auction company and wholly owned subsidiary of KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAR), is proud to announce its participation in a corporate-wide, fundraising event to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). During the month of August, IAA plans to sell lemonade at 142 of its 161 North American branches, from coast-to-coast, as well as its Chicago-based headquarters to help generate $125,000 toward supporting the organization’s mission of funding research into new treatments and ultimately cures for childhood cancers.

Through the participation of IAA’s more than 2,000 employees across the country, the company hopes to raise much needed funds by selling lemonade onsite during auction sale days. Additionally, each IAA branch location has a fundraising page on the ALSF website for generating funds. The site will be active from August 1 through August 31, where the public can offer their financial support and donate online: AlexsLemonade.org/campaign/insurance-auto-auctions-inc.

This is the third consecutive year that IAA has partnered with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. In 2011 and 2012, IAA participated in ALSF’s June National Lemonade Days, a collaborative initiative that raises nearly $1 million for childhood cancer research over the course of three days. In 2012, IAA significantly surpassed its month-long fundraising efforts, raising more than $142,000.

“Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is honored to have the ongoing support of IAA in securing critical funds toward research and raising awareness of childhood cancer causes and cures,” said Liz Scott, Alex’s mom and Co-Executive Director of ALSF. “We appreciate the assistance of IAA’s employees, vehicle providers, friends, neighbors and relatives in realizing the vision of our daughter, Alex, to find a cure for all children with cancer.”

On select dates throughout the month, families affected by childhood cancer will be present at a number of the lemonade stands set up at IAA auction facilities across the nation to help support IAA’s fund generation efforts.

“IAA actively supports worthwhile charities and causes that impact our local communities and employees, such as Alex’s Lemonade Stand, whose mission is truly inspiring,” said Tom O’Brien, chief executive officer at Insurance Auto Auctions. “We are excited to again partner with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for the third consecutive year to help the organization raise funds toward research of new treatments and cures for childhood cancers. Through the widespread efforts of our employees last year, we were able to surpass our fundraising goals, and we look forward to similar success this year.”

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996–2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $60 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 300 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
