New National Vehicle Donation Program Raises More Than $100,000 at Inaugural Kick-Off Event
Five Benefactor Charities — National Kidney Foundation, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, American Heart Association, The Humane Society of the United States and Chicago Area Council, Boy Scouts of America — Each to Receive $20,000

Westchester, Ill. – Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. (IAA), the leading live and live-online salvage auto auction company and wholly owned subsidiary of KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAR), today announced that its One Car One Difference™ Charity Gala generated more than $100,000 through contributions, auction items and industry event sponsorship for five nationally recognized charities.

The funds, which were raised at the program’s Chicago charity gala on December 2, will be divided equally among the five benefactor charities. IAA created the One Car One Difference™ program to help raise public awareness about the ease and benefits of vehicle donation. The program’s five charity benefactors — National Kidney Foundation, Society of St. Vincent de Paul, American Heart Association, The Humane Society of the United States and Chicago Area Council, Boy Scouts of America — will use the funds raised from the gala, as well as funds generated from vehicle donations, to support medical research, and provide food, medicine and shelter to people and animals in need.

“We launched One Car One Difference™ to help raise the public’s awareness as to the many benefits of donating a vehicle to a charity and to increase the amount of vehicle donations to charities across the country,” said Tom O’Brien, chief executive officer at IAA. “We’re in the worst economic downturn in seven decades and it’s having a tremendous impact on charitable organizations.

“This presents an opportunity for IAA to take our proven business model and provide a fund raising avenue to hundreds of charities. As a market leader in the vehicle donation industry, our goal is to take the success we have processing and selling vehicles every day and help drive growth in vehicle donations for charities, which will significantly help them raise funds.”

Vehicle donors can choose from hundreds of participating charities in addition to the five benefactor charities, to receive the money generated from the sale of their donated vehicles. For charities, that money can amount to a month’s worth of food for a family of five, more than two years of generic drugs for a senior citizen, life-saving education programs and medical research, character-building youth programs, or it can help rescue even more animals from neglect and abuse, and support the Humane Society’s End Dogfighting™ program in Chicago.

Since 1994, the IAA Donation Division has provided non-profit organizations with complete donation processing services — a key differentiator in the marketplace that creates a hassle-free and streamlined approach for participants — and has fueled tremendous results. In 2009, IAA assisted more than 100 designated charities throughout North America with their donation processing services. Charities find that using IAA reduces their administrative costs and assists them in putting more money to work on their stated mission.
