National Kidney Foundation Renews Long-Term Contract with Insurance Auto Auctions
Seventeen-Year Partnership Continues to Increase Charitable Vehicle Donations

Westchester, Ill. –  The National Kidney Foundation signed a long-term agreement to continue its 17-year partnership with Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. (IAAI), the leading live and live-online salvage auto auction company and wholly-owned subsidiary of KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAR). The relationship will continue to drive charitable donations and provide the National Kidney Foundation with funding to provide additional life-saving services to both patients and the medical community, through its nationally recognized Kidney Cars Program.

“We recognize the National Kidney Foundation’s Kidney Cars Program as one of the oldest and most respected vehicle donation programs in the country, and are pleased to continue our relationship,” said Tom O’Brien, chief executive officer at IAA. “Our business model fits their needs by providing nearly 160 auction locations throughout North America where their donated vehicles are sold to our global buyers each week.”

“Since 1983, vehicle donations have provided the National Kidney Foundation with more than $250 million to help fund patient and professional education and early detection, research and organ donation programs to support the 26 million people with kidney disease,” said Bruce Skyer, National Kidney Foundation Chief Operating Officer. “By partnering with IAA for the past 17 years, and participating on a national platform with IAA’s One Car One Difference™ program, we’ve been able to articulate the impact of car donations to a broader audience with greater success.”

As the premier benefactor charity with IAA’s One Car One Difference™ national vehicle donation program, the National Kidney Foundation helps consumers understand how easy it is to donate their unwanted vehicle. For donors, the program offers full-service donation support, including pick-up and paperwork, with just one phone call.

IAA’s bidding platform offers choice and flexibility, making it easy for more buyers to participate and generate high returns for donated vehicles. Each week, salvage auto auctions that combine live auctions and live-online bidding are offered to IAA’s broad global buyer base. While live auctions take place, online buyers join in the bidding through real-time audio broadcasts, which generate a healthy, competitive auction environment.

Since 1994, the IAA Donation Division has provided non-profit organizations with complete donation processing services — a key differentiator in the marketplace that creates a streamlined approach for participants — and has fueled tremendous results. In 2010, well over 100 designated charities throughout North America benefitted from millions of dollars in vehicle donations through IAA’s services. Over 90 percent of IAA vehicle donors said they would refer a friend to use IAA’s unique services.
