KAR Auction Services to Host National Auto Auction Association Safety Day

NAAA Member Auction Leaders Convene to Discuss Auction Safety

CARMEL, Ind. July 11, 2017 – KAR Auction Services, Inc. (NYSE: KAR), a global vehicle remarketing and technology solutions provider, will host the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) Safety Day. The event will take place at the company’s ADESA Boston auction location on July 25. Leaders from NAAA member auctions across the country will convene to learn, listen and exchange best practices and ideas for how the industry can better and more proactively address safety risks.

“The safety of our employees and our customers has always been a top priority at KAR—and my own personal mission,” said Jim Hallett, chairman and CEO of KAR. “After recent events, several independent auctions reached out to us looking for additional best practices on auction safety. We are proud to team with NAAA in uniting our industry and working together to develop innovative, collaborative new approaches to safety.”

All NAAA member auctions are invited and encouraged to attend Safety Day, but space is limited to the first 75 registrants. Leaders from KAR and ADESA Boston will be on hand to demonstrate their auction safety protocols during the event. Participants will also tour the ADESA Boston facility to see some of the physical design elements KAR has implemented to improve safety. The agenda will also feature presentations on OSHA’s 10-hour course to improve industrial workplace safety and NAAA’s safety certification program.

“It is NAAA’s goal to help make every auction, in every location as safe as possible,” said Frank Hackett, Chief Executive Officer of NAAA. “We are very pleased with the level of interest and engagement around this event and the willingness of our membership to rally around this important issue.”

KAR and NAAA have partnered since 2015 to make KAR’s Safe T. Sam program available at no cost to all NAAA member auctions. The groundbreaking program guides auction employees through a comprehensive series of safety training modules to reduce auction risks. Safe T. Sam, KAR’s safety program mascot, will also be onsite at the event.
