Warren Byrd is executive vice president of corporate development and real estate of KAR Auction Services, Inc.
As executive vice president of corporate development and real estate, Byrd oversees strategic corporate development projects and acquisitions and oversees the real estate activities of the enterprise.
Byrd joined ADESA, KAR’s wholesale used-vehicle auction, in 1994 as the company’s legal counsel later becoming General Counsel. During his time with ADESA, Byrd held several management roles. In 1999, he served as vice president of corporate development. Then, in 2001, he led information services as senior vice president. One year later, he became president of ADESA Impact, a salvage auction subsidiary. In 2007, Byrd became the executive vice president of corporate development for ADESA and was promoted to his current role with KAR Auction Services in 2010.
Prior to joining ADESA, Byrd worked in private practice at the Indianapolis law firm of McHale, Cook and Welch (now Bingham Greenebaum Doll). From 2004 through 2007, Byrd served as Chief Operating Officer of Servnet, Inc., a trade co-op of the industry’s leading independent auctions.
Byrd holds a doctorate of jurisprudence from the University of Notre Dame Law School and a bachelor’s degree in business from Cedarville University. He is a secretary, board member and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Auto Auction Association. He is also a board member of Auto Auction Services Corporation (AASC), an industry technology services consortium.
